“We Teach Life, Sir,” by Rafeef Ziadah
RAFEEF ZIADAH is a Canadian-Palestinian spoken word artist and activist. Her debut CD Hadeel is dedicated to Palestinian youth, who still fly kites in the face of F16 bombers, who still remember the names of their villages in Palestine and still hear the sound of Hadeel (cooing of doves) over Gaza.
This is a beautiful, beautiful poem. Personally, I do not know my own stance in this political conflict, but I believe her sincerity and the voice of my friend Lamb when they say that they want, they need, Palestine free. I give my heart out to those people who also teach life.
